Fibro Real Talk: FAC Awareness Campaign
This academic project challenged us to develop a comprehensive awareness campaign for a chosen non-profit organization, selecting one that personally resonated and delivering at least three key assets to bring the campaign to life. I selected Fibromyalgia Association Canada (FAC), an organization close to my heart as I live with fibromyalgia myself.

Overview
Fibromyalgia remains widely misunderstood and under-discussed, with those affected often feeling isolated due to a lack of visible community or open conversation. The concept centered on a guest-driven podcast series titled "Fibro Real Talk," where Fibromyalgia Association Canada would invite everyday Canadians with fibromyalgia to share their authentic experiences through targeted advertisements recruiting potential guest speakers.

Strategy & Execution
After selecting Fibromyalgia Association Canada (FAC) as my focus, I began with thorough research into the organization's history, mission, key messaging, and previous campaigns. This revealed a strong emphasis on awareness and symptom management, which inspired my podcast-centered approach to highlight personal stories while addressing the need for guest recruitment through targeted ads. I settled on five key deliverables: a podcast cover, bus shelter advertisement, poster, Instagram carousel, and leaderboard web banner. To reflect the condition's prevalence among women and convey themes of empowerment and connection, I incorporated stylized silhouettes of women as a central visual element across the assets.

Project Outcomes
The final deliverables form a cohesive campaign with vibrant colours dominated by purple to honour Fibromyalgia Association Canada's branding, complemented by bold accents for greater visual impact and to support viewers who may experience visual disturbances from the condition. Each asset features tailored taglines centered on validation and connection to draw in the audience emotionally, paired with a clear call to action inviting individuals to apply as guest speakers for the "Fibro Real Talk" podcast.
Initially, creating illustrations that conveyed both connection and empowerment while maintaining a cohesive set proved challenging, but I resolved this by incorporating multiple figures such as linked hands or groups of silhouettes to symbolize unity. Although I typically favour muted, soft palettes, this campaign demanded vibrancy, so I carefully selected a limited yet bold colour range to avoid overwhelming the design. My professor recommended extending the grain effect to areas like hair and bodies for added texture, and suggested varying hair colours in the three-women illustration to better reflect fibromyalgia's diverse impact, changes I fully support for future refinements.

Future Considerations
If I revisited this project, I would incorporate the minor adjustments suggested by my professor and explore creating alternate versions of each deliverable by varying colours, illustrations, taglines, and descriptions to allow for broader application. Through this process, I learned that staying closely aligned with FAC's core mission enabled a more impactful design, reinforcing that the primary role of such work is to address the challenge of raising awareness for this often "invisible" illness.
